Henry Prakken is professor of
Artificial Intelligence and Law in the Responsible AI Group of the
Department of Information and Computing Sciences at Utrecht University.
He has masters degrees in law and philosophy from the University of
Groningen as well as a PhD from the Free University Amsterdam. His main

International Association for AI & Law (IAAIL), of the JURIX
Foundation for Legal Knowledge-Based Systems and of the COMMA
conferences on Computational Models of Argument. He is on the editorial
board of several journals, including Artificial Intelligence and the
Law.
About the Topic:
Artificial Intelligence & Law is
not just something of recent years. It has a long history that goes back
to the 1970s. Likewise, Artificial Intelligence & Law is not just
about applying generative AI to the law. Instead, it has a long
tradition of developing symbolic models of legal reasoning and argument.
In this talk, Professor Prakken will give a brief overview of these
developments.
