Simon Horn studied German-French law from 2013 to 2020 at the Friedrich Alexander University Erlangen-Nuremberg (first state law exam 2020) and at the Université de Rennes 1 (Licence en droit 2016, Master 2 Droit européen 2020). While studying he worked at the Chair for Economic Private Law (Professor Jochen Hoffmann). During his studies he worked as a research assistant under Professor Dr Jochen Hoffmann at the Chair for Economic Private Law and as a tutor in German law at the Université de Rennes 1.
After completing his studies Simon Horn worked from 2019 to 2021 as a research associate, first at the Chair for Economic Private Law (Professor Dr Jochen Hoffmann), then at the Chair for Civil Law, Private International Law and Comparative Law (Professor Mathias Rohe) and the Erlangen Centre for Islam and Law in Europe (EZIRE) at the Friedrich Alexander University Erlangen-Nuremberg. Since the spring of 2021 he has been a Rechtsreferendar (legal trainee) at the Hanseatisches Oberlandesgericht in Hamburg. In 2022 he completed his doctoral studies under Professor Jochen Hoffmann at Erlangen-Nuremberg with a doctoral thesis in Private International Law entitled Vis attractiva contractus: Ausstrahlungswirkung von Verträgen im Internationalen Privat- und Zivilverfahrensrecht (Vis attractiva contractus: Spillover effects of contracts in private international law and international civil procedure).
Simon Horn has been employed at the Institute since April 2021.
