University of Giessen Calls Elena Dubovitskaya to Professorship

Elena Dubovitskaya, a former senior research fellow at the Max Planck Institute for Comparative and International Private Law, was appointed to a W3 professorship in civil and commercial law at Justus Liebig University Giessen to begin in the summer semester of 2022.

Professor Elena Dubovitskaya studied law at Lomonosov Moscow State University,  where she received her doctorate in 2003 writing on the freedom of establishment for companies in the European Community. She then studied law at the University of Bonn and passed both her State law examinations in North Rhine–Westphalia. She habilitated through Bucerius Law School in 2019, receiving her venia legendi in civil law, commercial and corporate law, capital market law, comparative law, and Eastern European law. She worked at the Institute from 2015 to 2021 in roles that included heading the Centre of Expertise on Russia and other post-Soviet states.
