As the latest instalment of the successful lecture and discussion series “Chinas Rechtssystem im Wandel” (China’s Legal System in Transformation), this year’s programme, titled “Update 2017/2018”, will consider several significant changes in the basic legal structure of the People’s Republic of China from an academic and entrepreneurial perspective. A first focal point will be the new registration and approval procedures put in place for foreign invested enterprises (FIE) such as joint ventures and subsidiaries. Also subject to inquiry will be the increasing number of Chinese certification requirements and the possible business consequences these will have. Included here will be a consideration of the recently enacted Cybersecurity Act. The new Act will apply to all businesses operating in China that store customer-related data on hard drives or servers, and it entails a number of legal obligations as regards network security and data protection.

The lecture programme will be held in German.
