The conference aimed to reflect on the role of Private International Law academia in Latin America. Exploring beyond national, regional and global developments the panellists ventured to answer questions such as the following: How does one becomes a PIL expert in Latin America? (i.e. access to the profession; the duality practitioner-academic; the scarcity of full-time academics; the lack of doctoral programs in some countries); Is PIL LATAM academia inclusive enough? (i.e. the sociology of the ‘invisible college’).
