Vita

I work in the area of AI & law, and in particular on the interplay between large language models (LLMs) and law. My research concerns questions such as: what are suitable legal tasks to be carried out by LLMs, and how can we quantify their success at these tasks? To answer these questions I use a combination of formal and practical methods.
Before coming to the MPI, I completed a BSc in Artificial Intelligence in 2017 and an MSc in Logic in 2021, both at the University of Amsterdam. Then, I completed a PhD on the topic of a fortiori case-based reasoning in AI & law at Utrecht University. My project was part of the Hybrid Intelligence Centre, which is focused on the combination of machine and human intelligence. Besides AI and law, I have worked in some areas of mathematics such as category theory and term rewriting.
