Private law issues arise in all areas of life. With its campaign ‘All of This is Private Law?!’, the Institute aims, in its centennial year, to highlight just how closely its core research is linked to everyday life. To this end, Institute researchers have formulated 14 illustrative and thought-provoking questions. In order to discuss their topics, some of these staff members have appeared as guests on ‘Lawcast’, the Max Planck Law podcast.
Since its foundation, the Institute has been a driving force behind debates on the development of private law. To mark not only our 100th anniversary but also the path into the future, we have set out to engage in dialogue with as many people as possible, including those outside legal circles. Our aim is to show just how much private law shapes our lives and to make clear the importance of collectively reflecting on the development of the law.
Chris Murphy tackles a number of our anniversary questions in the latest episode of Lawcast. Felix Aiwanger, Kwamou Eva Feukeu, Reinhard Zimmermann, Pascal T. Sierek, Katharina Isabel Schmidt, and Vincent Hoppmann all take their turn in the ‘hot seat’, where they answer questions about what inspired them to conduct research on animal rights, the informal economy in Africa, compulsory inheritance rights, ‘dark patterns’, AI and justice, and climate protection.
The Max Planck Lawcast showcases the academic research being conducted across the various Institutes within the Max Planck Law network. Dr Christopher Murphy, the Lawcast host, sits down with researchers to explore the breakthroughs in their legal research. The Max Planck Lawcast is available on all major podcasting platforms, including Spotify and Apple.
Max Planck Law is a network of eight Max Planck Institutes engaging in legal research. Our purpose is to deepen the cooperation between the participating Institutes, raise their international visibility and strengthen the cross-institute support of our early career researchers.
