Matthias Pendl, research fellow at the Institute, has been appointed by the Free University of Bozen-Bolzano as external affiliated researcher at the recently established Competence Centre for the Management of Cooperatives. Their partnered efforts will focus on joint academic activities and publications, particularly in the context of interdisciplinary research projects studying cooperatives and social enterprises.

Founded in 1997, the Free University of Bozen is multilingual and internationally oriented. It has five faculties and seven Competence Centres, all of which are equally focused on teaching and research. In addition to basic research conducted through international networks, it works in concert with companies and institutions striving to develop the cooperative system.

Dr. Matthias Pendl studied law at the Karl-Franzens-Universität Graz, where he earned his doctoral degree in 2017. After initially working at the Institute from 2014 to 2017 as research associate, he returned in 2018 as research fellow. Since that time he has conducted research on national and international company law. He has, in addition, been teaching at Bucerius Law School and the University of Hamburg since 2018.
