The Association has its seat in Paris and operates under the auspices of UNESCO and the International Social Science Council (ISC), of which it is a founding member. It serves as an umbrella organization for presently 29 national members, including the Gesellschaft für Rechtsvergleichung on behalf of Germany. Its core activities include the staging of international legal summits, such as the 2014 conference titled “Legal Pluralism” in Turin or the “Legislators, Judges and Professors” symposium held at the Institute in 2015.
