The half-day symposium is the latest installment in the annual Institute series “Current Developments in Japanese Law”.
The
first speaker will present a current study looking at how internal
auditors (kansayaku) impact Japanese businesses in the context of
corporate governance.
The second talk is dedicated to the (most
recent) reform of company law in 2019, which addresses, among other
topics, the role that should be played by boards and shareholders of
Japanese companies within the corporate governance framework.
The third speaker will explore the effect that the recent tightening of Japanese foreign trade law is having
on foreign direct investment in Japan.
Finally, the last
presentation will consider whether the latest labour law reforms can
achieve their goal of mitigating the negative effects that the aging of
the Japanese population carries for the labour market.
The presentations and discussions will be held in English.
