About the speaker:

Marta Pertegás Sender is a Professor of Law at Maastricht University and at the University of Antwerp. She teaches and publishes in the area of Private International Law, Transnational Commercial Law and International Litigation. From 2008 to 2017, she served as First Secretary at the Permanent Bureau of The Hague Conference on Private International Law.

About the topic:

Using a recent CJEU judgment in the area of child abduction (SS v MCP, C-603/20 PPU), this paper discusses the articulation of the different layers of norms that shape PIL (i.e., the connections and disconnections between local, regional and global norms).
