Hailing from all over the world, more than 1,000 foreign researchers and scholarship recipients of various renowned research organizations come each year to take advantage of the opportunities extended by the Institute. During their stay they are provided a workspace in the library, the Institute’s most important research tool for staff and visitors. Further, guests are invited and encouraged to participate in the Institute’s regular academic life: the various lectures, conferences and discussion panels held at the Institute are open to guests and involvement in ongoing Institute research and publication activities is also possible.

The Welcome Center is pleased to be able to greet you as a guest at the Max Planck Institute for Comparative and International Private Law! We hope that you will feel welcome while you are here and that your research stay can be as pleasant and productive as possible.

We are happy to help whenever you have questions concerning your stay here in Hamburg.
