Academic Career:

Studied law at the universities of Münster and Bonn; 2002 student assistant at the Center for European Integration Studies (ZEI); 2005 first state examination (higher regional court of Cologne), 2005-2007 legal clerkship inter alia at the European Commission Directorate-General for Competition, the German Federal Cartel Office and a notary’s office; 2007 second state examination; 2010-2011 research assistant for Prof. Daniel Zimmer (university of Bonn, institute for trade and company law).

Studied economics (university of Hagen), 2011 Diplom-Volkswirt, with distinction.

2009-2010 doctoral scholarship and 2011 publication grant of the Arbeitskreis Wirtschaft und Recht im Stifterverband für die deutsche Wissenschaft (economics and law working group at the association for the promotion of German science and humantities); 2012 publication grant of the Max-Planck-Society; 2011 Doctorate at the University of Bonn; awarded the FORIS Price (third price) for the doctoral thesis „Verständigungen - Settlements im Kartellbußgeldverfahren" (settlements in competition law administrative fine proceedings) by the Faculty of Law and Economics at the university of Bonn; awarded the Jacques Lassier Prize of the International League of Competition Law/Ligue international du droit de la concurrence (LIDC) for his doctoral thesis in September 2013; honoured with the 2018 Antitrust Writing Award in the category of Best Academic Private Enforcement Article, organised by George Washington University and Concurrences Review.
