Zeitschrift für Unternehmens- und Gesellschaftsrecht [Journal for Business and Corporate Law]

The “Zeitschrift für Unternehmens- und Gesellschaftsrecht (ZGR)” functions as a central resource for scholarship and practice in the area of business law. With an emphasis on the traditional focal points of business, company and capital markets law, the journal pays particular attention to interdisciplinary aspects and to the international, especially European, dimension.

The "Zeitschrift für Unternehmens- und Gesellschaftsrecht" (ZGR) was founded in 1972 and has the aim of examining company law from the dual perspectives of scholarship and practice. Traditional areas of focus are company, corporate and capital market law. In recent years, increasing importance has been placed on international – especially European – and interdisciplinary analysis. The ZGR offers a forum for the consideration of basic questions and new approaches in these areas as well as in respect of selected individual topics. The journal presents the views of university instructors, private attorneys, judges, in-house counsel and many other individuals who provide legal advice in corporate practice. Every two years, the ZGR focuses on particular themes so as to generate a discourse that integrates the views of academics, judges and practitioners. Additionally, on an intermittent basis, special issues are published on subjects that are of particular interest for their subscribers.

The journal, established by Marcus Lutter und Herbert Wiedemann, is edited by Alfred Bergmann, Ingo Drescher, Wulf Goette, Stephan Harbarth, Peter Hommelhoff, Gerd Krieger, Hanno Merkt, Christoph Teichmann, Jochen Vetter, Marc-Philippe Weller, Hartmut Wicke and, from the Institute, Holger Fleischer; numbering among the earlier editors was the former Institute Director Klaus J. Hopt. The ZGR is published six times a year by De Gruyter and totals roughly 1,000 printed pages each year.
