With the 18 and 19 November 2005 symposium on the "Adverse Effects on Party Autonomy at the Time of Contracting", the Institute honoured the former director Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. mult. Hein Kötz who celebrated his 70th birthday on 14 November 2005.
 
Focusing on the examination of the field of European contract law through pluralistic methods, the symposium also represented an acknowledgement of the work by Hein Kötz in this field,
