Research Work

The predominant research aim of the Institute is a systematic study of foreign, European and international private law, commercial law, economic law and civil procedure inclusive of comparative law anlaysis and legal harmonisation.

These objectives yield a research focus further developed through individual research projects.  Not only are these projects undertaken by Institute fellows in the form of shared studies, individual studies and doctoral and post-doctoral research, they are also completed in cooperation with external scholars. In so doing, the research projects cover the significant legal fields of private law, commercial law and economic law but are always framed in the context of the particular emphasis placed by the Institute on legal unification as well as legal harmonisation, legal history, foreign law, and international private law and procedure.
