The Institute focuses in particular upon the harmonisation of European private law. It participates on the Commission on European Contract Law, on the European Civil Code Project and on the Joint Network on European Private Law. It contributes to world-wide projects such as Comparative Corporate Governance and Anatomy of Corporate Law as well as on projects on Non-Profit Organisations. Regional emphases include East Asia, Latin America, Islamic nations and Southeast Europe. The Institute participates on a research initiative on Conflicts of Law in Intellectual Property.
