Symposium „Reform des World Anti-Doping Code“
MPI for Comparative and International Private Law, Hamburg, 05.10.2007, 17.00
Recent events in the field of professional cycling and many doping scandals in other sports have resulted in a political and social desire for legal rules, primarily a national Anti-Doping law. This request is based on the assumption that the fight against doping currently undertaken by international and national sports associations lacks efficiency and assertiveness. The World Anti-Doping Agency is currently revising the World Anti-Doping Code (WADC) in order to enhance the fight against doping by means of private law. The symposium in Hamburg focuses on this reform and its consequences for athletes, associations and legal practice. Not only the current rules of the WADC and the jurisprudence of the Court of Arbitration for Sports (CAS) are to be presented but also the new provisions of the WADC will be assessed extensively. The presentations will be enriched by comments of representatives of athletes, sport associations and legal practitioners.Date of publication: 05.10.2007
