Presentation of Festschrift to Jan Kropholler
MPI for Private Law, Hamburg 26.09.2008
On 23 August 2008 Professor Dr. Jan Kropholler turned 70 years old. As Senior Research Fellow at the Hamburg Max Planck Institute, Kropholler set new standards for private international law and procedure in terms of content, methodology and pedagogy. In the field of PIL, particularly worthy of mention is his textbook on the subject which saw its 6th edition released in 2006. Among his works on international and, above all, European procedural law, his commentary on the EuGVO - published for the eighth time in 2005 - bears witness to Kropholler's scholarly achievements. In honour of the exceptional contributions made by Jan Kropholler to the study of law, a Festschrift titled „Die richtige Ordnung“ has recently been published by Mohr Siebeck. The Festchrift was edited by former students of Prof. Kropholler, Dietmar Baetge, Jan von Hein and Michael von Hinden and will be presented to him during a celebratory event being held at the Hamburg Max Planck Institute on 11 October 2008.
