The International Max Planck Research School for Maritime Affairs and the International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea (ITLOS) invite you to the first ever Hamburg Lectures on Maritime Affairs. Therein, renowned academics and practitioners will be speaking on current topics in the maritime field. Parallel to this lecture series, companion seminars will be held for the Scholars und Associates of the Research School as well as the staff of the Tribunal. The 2007 lecture series is as follows:

The lectures will be held on the grounds of the Tribunal of the Sea, at Internationalen Seegerichtshof 1, 22609 Hamburg. Advance registration is requested.

The International Max Planck Research School for Maritime Affairs has been in existence since 2002 and focuses upon the legal, economic and geophysical aspects attendant to the use, protection and regulation of the seas. It is founded upon a cooperation between the Max Planck Institute for Comparative and International Private Law, the Max Planck Institute for Meteorology, the Max Planck Institute for Comparative Public Law and International Law and the University of Hamburg. Spokespersons for the Research School are Jürgen Basedow and Ulrich Magnus.
