Habilitandenkolloquium

MPI for Private Law, Hamburg, 09.05.2011 - 10.05.2011

The seventh Habilitandenkolloquium will take place on 9-10 May 2011 at the Hamburg Max Planck Institute for Comparative and International Private Law. The colloquim comprises a total of 15 presentations, including three from Institute post-doctoral candidates.
Presented topics will cover a spectrum including comparative considerations in the field of the law of obligations, competition law, private international law, insolvency law and business law.

The Institute supports not only the habilitation (post-doctoral) projects of its own fellows but also sees itself responsible for bringing together the next generation of legal scholars and fostering both an exchange of ideas and the creation of academic networks. This aim has been pursued by the Institute every two years since the inception of the Habilitandenkolloquium in 1999. Invited to participate are post-doctoral scholars from German, Austrian and Swiss universities whose academic projects are related to the research undertaken at the Institute and whose work is sufficiently developed to allow a presentation of significant findings and conclusions. Additional participants include Institute fellows who themselves are working on their habilitation. The colloquia offer the participants the opportunity to present and discuss their theses with other scholars in a collegial forum. The colloquia which have been held thus far have also subsequently resulted in numerous scholarly exchanges and cooperations among their participants.
