The China-EU School of Law (CESL) is hosting a five day Professional Training Course in Beijing, specially designed for European law firms who are actively doing business in China or who are planning to do so in the future.

Chaired by Dr Knut B. Pissler, Senior Research Fellow at the Max Planck Institute for Comparative and International Private Law in Hamburg, Professor Stefan Messmann from the Central European University in Budapest and Christoph Hezel of Taylor Wessing in Beijing, the course features presentations by experienced professionals from European law and accounting firms and renowned European and Chinese academics on the problems of foreign investments in China.

Participants will be given an overview of the latest developments in the legal framework and institutions that play a role in China’s market economy, focussing on legal requirements for the founding and operation of businesses with foreign investment. The course also includes lectures on the law governing labour relations, taxation, protection of property and technology transfer. Additionally, there are a range of excursions to various Chinese institutions of importance for investment in China.
