Environmental Pollution Liability and Insurance Law Ramifications in Light of the “Deepwater Horizon” Oil Spill

On 27 October 2010 Dr. Kyriaki Noussia (Senior Associate, I. K. R. P., “Rokas & Partners” International Law Firm, Athens, Greece) will hold a lecture titled "Environmental pollution liability and insurance law ramifications in light of the 'Deepwater Horizon' oil spill" in the next installment of the Hamburg Lectures series.

Dr. Kyriaki Noussia, Ph.D., LL.M., was a scholarshop recipient of the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation (2007 - 2010) at the law faculty of the University of Hamburg and the Max Planck Institute for Comparative and International Private Law in Hamburg. Prior to that she had held various academic positions in Great Britain, the last as C.S.E.T. Lecturer in Common Law rom 2004-2007 at the Birmingham Law School (University of Birmingham, UK). She has spoken on many occasions as a guest lecturer at various universities and other academic institutions and is a member of several associations and committees relating to her fields of emphasis, transportation law, martime law, international business law, international procedural law and international arbitration.

The International Max Planck Research School for Maritime Affairs and the International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea (ITLOS) invite you to attend this year's Hamburg Lectures on Maritime Affairs. The program features renowned scholars and practitioners speaking on current developments in the maritime field. All seminars and panel discussions are open to the public.

The International Max Planck Research School for Maritime Affairs has been in existence since 2002 and addresses legal, economic, ecological and geophysical aspects of the use, regulation and protection of the oceans. It is organised as a cooperative effort of the Max Planck Institute for Comparative and International Private law, the Max Planck Institute for Meteorology, the Max Planck Institute for Comparative Public Law and International Law and the University of Hamburg. Spokespersons for the Research School are Jürgen Basedow and Ulrich Magnus.
