The Max Planck Institute for Comparative and International Private Law invites students of the European Master in Law & Economics programme to a special lecture event as part of the course „Foundations of Law and Economics: Comparative Law“ by Jun. Prof. Dr. Patrick Leyens.

Following a guided tour to the Institute’s librabry Dr. Hannes Rösler, Senior Research Fellow at the Institute, will in his lecture „Mapping Legal Cultures – alternative Perspectives on the Theory of Legal Families and the Work of the Max Planck Institute for Comparative and International Private Law“ speak about the foundations and perspectives of comparative legal research. He will especially focus on the history of the Institute, its current research projects and the links between comparative legal research and economic analysis of the law.

Conducted by the University of Hamburg along with nine other universities the European Master in Law & Economics (EMLE) is an interdisciplinary master programme open to graduates of both legal and economic faculties. It has been recognised as Erasmus Mundus Programme by the European Commission.

The event is not open to the public.
