05.08.2010

A collection of legal essays offering international and regional perspectives.

Dr. Jürgen Samtleben, former research fellow of the Institute, has authored the most recent volume of a publication series released by the German-Brazilian Jurists' Association. Titled "Rechtspraxis und Rechtskultur in Brasilien und Lateinamerika" (Legal Practice and Legal Culture in Brazil and Latin America), the work compiles and updates four decades of intensive scholarly studies which examine Brazilian and Latin American law. The selected entries focus on German-Brazilian legal relations, legal questions surrounding the economic integration of the MERCOSUR and foundational developments in Latin American law from a comparative perspective.

The German-Brazilian Jurist's Association was established in 1982 by German and Brazilian lawyers, judges and scholars. As a co-founder and former member of the board of directors, Jürgen Samtleben is presently a member of the association's advisory council.
