New publication highlights Institute expertise in East Asian civil law.

Dr. Knut Benjamin Pißler, Senior Research Fellow at the Institute, is one of the authors of the just-released publication "Einführung in das koreanische Recht" (An Introduction to Korean Law).

With its release, the Korea Legislation Research Institute has presented the first German language work offering a comprehensive overview of Korean law. Knut Benjamin Pißler's chapter on private international law is the product of multiple research trips to Korea, in part at the invitation of the Korea Legislation Research Institute, which allowed for intensive cooperation with the Korean authors contributing to the volume.

East Asian civil law has been a subject of Insitute research for a number of years. Alongside its existing regional units covering Japan and China, the Institute has since 2005 been continually expanding its expertise in Korean law.

The Korea Legislation Research Institute in Seoul is a government funded think tank founded in July 1990. Its tasks include the systematic collection and management of Korean and international legal materials as well as the provision of scholarly assistance to the Korean national legislature.
