Dr. Christian Heinze appointed to the expert team for “Creativity and Copyright in the Internet Economy“

15.03.2010

Christian Heinze, researcher at the Max Planck Institute for International and Comparative Private Law, has been appointed to an interdisciplinary expert panel for copyright law reform. Sponsored by the Hamburg Department of Culture, Sport and Media, and led by the Hans Bredow Institute for Media Research, the project “Creativity and Copyright in the Internet Economy” is charged with developing proposals to bring copyright law into line with modern communication conditions.

The group of researchers from the Hamburg University, Hans Bredow Institute, the Bucerius Law School, the Max Planck Institute for International and Comparative Private Law and the Hamburg Media School will firstly address the question of whether publishers should be protected by an ancillary copyright, and will open the question to discussion with representatives from industry and an international academic advisory council. Christian Heinze will contribute particularly on the overlaps with the Max Planck Institute’s areas of activity (competition law, international private law, and procedural law).

Christian Heinze has been with the Institute since 2002 researching intellectual property law development and harmonisation at the European and international level as part of an international Max Planck team. He is also a lecturer and examiner in copyright law and civil procedure at the Hamburg University.
