Dr. Phillip Hellwege appointed as professor

Effective 1 April 2010, Dr. Phillip Hellwege has been appointed as a professor at the law faculty of the University of Augsburg.

The former research fellow at the Max Planck Institute for Comparative and International Private Law will hold a professorship in civil law, legal history and business law.

A fellow at the Institute from 2003 until March 2010, Phillip Hellwege completed his post-doctoral dissertation (Habilitation) last year at the University of Regensburg with a work addressing the law of standard contract terms (“Allgemeine Geschäftsbedingungen, einseitig gestellte Vertragsbedingungen und die allgemeine Rechtsgeschäftslehre”).

The University of Augsburg numbers among the more recent universities in Bavaria. It was founded in 1970 and is currently home to 15,000 students. The university comprises seven different faculties, the law faculty having been established in 1971. All of the faculties work on an inter-disciplinary basis.
