With Dr. Jörn Kowalewski, another longtime researcher of the Max Planck Institute for Comparative and International Private Law in Hamburg has been honoured by the Deutsches Aktieninstitut (DAI).The DAI Hochschulpreis has for 14 years been awarded to legal and economic scholars whose dissertations and habilitations (post-doctoral theses) address themes involving the stock market. The DAI describes the award as honouring the best scientific dissertations promoting stocks as an investment tool or source of corporate financing. The prize aims to further the bond between financial practice and the work of the DAI on one side, and the role of academic research on the other.
Dr. Jörn Kowalewski was until 2006 a research fellow of the Max Planck Institute for Comparative and International Private Law. His work on preemptive rights in equity carve-outs considers the behavioural finance approach of capital-market theory and examines its legal implications. His work was supervised by Prof. Klaus J. Hopt. Dr. Jörn Kowalewski presently works as an attorney in Hamburg.
