06.02.2010
Priv.-Doz. Dr. Harald Baum, MPI senior research fellow and head of the Institute's Japan Unit as well as vice-president of the German-Japanese Jurists' Association, is one of the two recipients of the JaDe-Prize 2010 awarded by the Stiftung zur Förderung japanisch-deutscher Wissenschafts- und Kulturbeziehungen (Foundation for the Support of Japanese-German Academic and Cultural Relations).
The award recognises his diverse and long-standing dedication to creating an academic exchange with Japan as well as his 1996 founding of the Journal of Japanese Law/Zeitschrift für Japanisches Recht. These efforts have contributed towards making Japanese law a standard component of comparative law study in Germany. The prize was bestowed on 6 February 2010 in Cologne at an official ceremony organised by the JaDe Stiftung in cooperation with the Japanese embassy and the Japanisches Kulturinstitut Köln (The Japan Foundation).
The Stiftung zur Förderung japanisch-deutscher Wissenschafts- und Kulturbeziehungen (JaDe), located in Cologne, has awarded this prize annually for the last ten years in recognition of exceptional performance and dedication on behalf of academic and cultural exchange between Japan and Germany.
