Jürgen Basedow Presented with Festheft of the Rabel Journal

On the occasion of his 60th birthday, Professor Jürgen Basedow, Director at the Max Planck Institute for Comparative and International Private Law, was presented with a Festheft published by the Rabel Journal of Comparative and International Private Law.
As part of an Academic Council featuring talks by two of the work's contributing authors, Professor Axel Metzger, former Institute research fellow and current professor at the University of Hannover, presented the Festheft to the evening's honouree. In the tradition of the Rabel Journal, the articles comprising the Festheft were authored by Institute staff and friends, many of whom previously studied under Professor Basedow. The contributions in the field of private international law, procedural law, comparative law, uniform law, European private law and competition law reflect the wide spectrum of Jürgen Basedow's research interests.

The quarterly appearing Journal of Comparative and International Private Law was founded in 1927 by Ernst Rabel as Germany's central forum for foundational research on the international aspects and configurations of private law, economic law and procedural law. The legal journal is edited by the Max Planck Institute for Comparative and International Private Law and has been publíshed since 1946 by Mohr Siebeck in Tübingen. It has carried the name of its founder since 1961.
